I am currently a graduate student earning my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University. In 2013 I received my bachelors in Psychology and in 2016 I received my Masters in Human Service Counseling with a concentration in Military Resilience. I am a military spouse, and I am originally from Southern California, but the military has taken our family to various parts of the country. My professional experience involves working with children and families who have been diagnosed with Autism. That experience led me to pursue a second graduate degree that would help me to develop my skills to work with individuals, couples, and all members of a family. I am ready to apply what I have learned in my studies through this internship experience.
I have a deep understanding of how strengths can serve as an agent for change. It is my passion to help those that I work with to identify those strengths in a way that can help with achieving growth and overcoming challenges or adversity. I am also passionate about being a relational therapist in training and exploring the relationships that we find ourselves a part of. I recognize how our relationships are an aspect of our lives that can influence us to be the people that we are today. I believe that the quality of our lives is linked to the quality of our relationships with ourselves and others. I also acknowledge that it takes courage to share your story, and I am honored to work with those who are open to inviting me to walk with them on their journey.
My husband and I have been married for over 5 years, we have two young kiddos, so in my spare time usually find myself soaking in all these fun early moments with them. Some of my favorite tv shows include Grey’s Anatomy and FRIENDS. My favorite music usually involves anything that I can dance to. I enjoy music from many genres. One of my favorites include the decades of Earth Wind and Fire and The Bee Gees. Some of my favorite artists from today are Bruno Mars, Robin Thicke, Alicia Keys and Justin Timberlake to name a couple. I am not an enthusiastic reader, but I really love learning, so any book that helps with personal growth or developing my skills, I can get into! I look forward to meeting with you and getting to know you.
