Specialties: PTSD and Trauma, Grief, EMDR, Military, Substance Use, Anxiety
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, and EMDR Certified therapist with over 20 years experience providing therapy to individuals, couples and families in Texas. I received my masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University in 2004. I have provided individual and group therapy in the following settings: domestic violence shelters, the criminal justice system, university counseling centers, inpatient substance abuse treatment facilities, and private practice.
I have been a Certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapist (see www.emdria.org for more information) for approaching 5 years. This modality allows me to help people struggling with anxiety, grief and trauma to move through the process of healing in a unique and deep way. This modality together with my experiences also makes me uniquely suited to help individuals struggling with problematic habits or addictions as well as family members of individuals with these challenges.
I am a member of EMDRIA, I am a member of the Texas Association for Addiction Professionals, the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors, and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists.
I have been married to my husband since 2004 and we have two teenage children. I enjoy reading, crafting, yoga, walking our senior dog and arguing with our teenage cat.
I consider it a sacred privilege to be invited into the lives of my clients to witness healing and growth. I encourage anyone experiencing struggles to find a counselor that is a good fit for the journey.
