Dear ICFE Clients,
In this time of a national health emergency affecting our area, we are working to balance the need to provide continuous, quality care for relational and mental health and the heightened need to protect the health and safety of our clients, staff, therapists, and the public. With these goals in mind, we want to inform you of the options you have available regarding your sessions with your ICFE therapist at this time and until further notice. Each ICFE therapist is independently allowed to determine for themselves if they are comfortable continuing in office therapy sessions based on their personal health needs and comfort level. Our office will continue to practice a high level of precaution to sanitize all areas of our office; however, it is important for clients to be fully aware that we have no way to fully know the risk to clients who attend in person therapy sessions.
Because a primary concern is the health and well-being of all individuals, clients who 1) have traveled internationally in the last two weeks, regardless of the presence of illness symptoms, 2) have experienced a fever, sore throat, and other flu like symptoms within the past two weeks, and 3) have a compromised immune system or interact directly with someone who has a compromised immune system should not attend in person therapy sessions. Your therapist will work with you to determine if available telehealth options are appropriate to meet your therapeutic goals or if therapy should be paused temporarily and resumed in a few weeks.
All other clients are also strongly encouraged to consider attending therapy sessions via a telehealth platform or rescheduling their sessions for the next two weeks. A variety of telehealth options are currently available due to the national emergency. ICFE therapists offering telehealth sessions as an option have access to HIPAA compliant platforms for client interaction in order to protect client privacy. We recognize that a video or phone session may not feel the same as being in the same room with your therapist, but there are many ways that our therapists can still utilize telehealth to continue positively addressing your therapeutic goals.
We remain committed to the health and well being of your family and all families in our community. Please reach out to your therapist if you have any questions or concerns at all. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this challenging time for our city and our world.
Becky Davenport, Ph.D., LMFT-S ICFE Owner and Director
History and Mission of the ICFE
The ICFE was established in 2010 by Becky R. Davenport, Ph.D., LMFT-S after 10 years of clinical practice, teaching, and providing supervision to student clinicians. Dr. Davenport recognized a need in the San Antonio area for specialized therapy services for couples and families. The ICFE was founded based in the knowledge that relationships are a central part of all of our lives. When relationships are strong, they provide us with a sense of security and a confidence in ourselves. When we encounter problems in any significant relationship, we can feel deep despair, disconnection, and frustration that can negatively impact all aspects of our lives. The mission of the ICFE is to provide quality, relationship-focused services to not only help clients address the problems that have brought them to therapy, but also to help them build secure, resilient relationships and positive self-confidence that allow changes obtained in therapy to continue throughout their lives.
Some problems people bring to therapy are a result of impaired relationships, while other problems are negatively impacting one's relationships. Whether you are seeking individual therapy for yourself, couple's therapy for your relationship, or therapy for your child or teen, we will collaborate together to find ways to eliminate the problems you are encountering while also strengthening vital relationships. Our approach to therapy does not simply focus on removing problems, but rather on making life the best it can be. Please select the tab that corresponds to the type of therapy you are seeking to find out more about our approach, training, and experiences.
Clinicians with Unique Expertise and Training
All therapists at the ICFE are Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associates (LMFTAs) with significant training and experience working with couples and families like yours.
