I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 19 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The University of Texas at San Antonio, a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Purdue University Calumet, and a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Antioch University New England.

Alongside my clinical work, I’ve taught undergraduate and graduate courses and published on topics such as parenting, identity, feminist theory, and positive psychology. A consistent thread throughout my work is a deep respect for each client’s unique life experiences, and a commitment to helping people navigate challenges in ways that feel authentic to them. I affirm and welcome clients of all backgrounds, lifestyles, and belief systems.

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and practical. I believe therapy is most powerful when it balances acceptance with growth—creating a safe space for you to come as you are, while also offering guidance, feedback, and evidence-based tools to help you move forward. Whether you’re facing changes in relationships, career, identity, or other life transitions, I specialize in helping clients reconnect with themselves, strengthen relationships, and foster resilience.

My clinical focus includes relational concerns (pre-marital, becoming parents, life stage adjustments, feelings of disconnection, desire to enhance strengths); life transitions (parenthood, break ups, identity exploration, job/life stage changes), and coping skills (to better manage anxiety, depression, stress, and emotions).

Outside the therapy room, I enjoy art, photography, comedy, writing, music, and playful time with my husband and our two elementary-age children. These creative outlets inspire me to bring curiosity, perspective, and presence into my work as a therapist.

I recognize therapy is an investment of time, energy, and emotion, and my goal is for it to be meaningful and transformative for you. Real change is possible. Healthy, fulfilling relationships are possible. A more confident, grounded, and resilient you is possible.

I invite you to visit my website mcvickertherapy.weebly.com to learn more about my style and approach. If you feel I may be a good fit, I’d be honored to walk alongside you on your journey. One step at a time.
