Student Interns are graduate students enrolled in a Master’s program. As a part of training and education during the last year of their graduate school education, students complete an internship under the supervision of an experienced professional. ICFE Student Interns are supervised by ICFE Owner and Director, Dr. Becky Davenport. Student Interns at ICFE are attending accredited graduate programs with specialized training for individual, couple, and family therapy.
Associate Therapists have completed their Master’s degree and passed a national licensing exam. They have been granted an “Associate” license by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) to practice in a wide variety of mental health settings, including private practice, under the supervision of a State approved supervisor for at least two years after completing the Master’s degree. Some Associate Therapists at ICFE have just recently completed their graduate program directly following an undergraduate education, while others have additional work experience before or after their Master’s program that prepare them for specific areas of specialization. ICFE Associate Therapists are Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist-Associates (LMFT-Associate) and/or Licensed Professional Counselor- Associates (LPC-Associate).
Master’s Level Therapists have completed a Master’s degree program, including an internship, and then completed the experience and supervision requirements to become fully and independently licensed professionals through the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC). To maintain active license status, therapists must complete continued education requirements and maintain ethical standards. ICFE Master’s Level Therapists have a wealth of experience, advanced training, and expertise across numerous specializations. ICFE Master’s Level Therapists are Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs) and/or Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) with significant training and experience working with couples and families.
Doctoral Level Therapists at ICFE have completed a doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, in addition to completing all requirements for licensure as Marriage and Family Therapists in Texas. Above and beyond the requirements of a Master’s program, a doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy emphasizes research and supervision skills, advanced clinical training, and preparation for teaching in a graduate program. Doctoral Therapists at ICFE have an average of 20 years of clinical experience.
